Frequently asked questions
What does it cost to get WiFi that works?
We get the same questions every week. Here are the straight answers, no fuss.
How much does installed WiFi cost?
What WiFi costs depends on the floor area and whether cabling is needed. A typical apartment usually manages with one access point, while a two-storey house needs two or three. We charge SEK 800/h after RUT deduction for private customers and SEK 1,280/h excl. VAT for businesses, and give a fixed price in the quote for larger jobs.
Can you boost the WiFi instead of rebuilding?
Often, yes. Boosting WiFi is rarely about a new router; it's about putting the right equipment in the right place. We measure where the signal dies and build out from there. Boosting a wireless network with an access point in the right spot almost always does more than buying a more expensive router with better range.
Is it enough to boost the WiFi signal?
Sometimes. If the core network is healthy, we can boost the WiFi signal and improve WiFi coverage with one or two extra points. If the router is ten years old or sits in a wardrobe in the basement, no booster will solve the problem, so we replace the foundation first. Boosting the internet signal is as often about placement as about equipment: if we move the point two metres, WiFi reception is often twice as strong.
Can I get help with small things too?
Yes. If you need WiFi help in Stockholm with something small (a printer that can't be found, a guest who can't get on the network, a camera that keeps losing connection), you can book us by the hour with no minimum order.
Do you come out to the suburbs too?
Yes. We do network installation in Täby and network installation in Norrtälje as often as in the city centre, and travel across the whole county, with no extra call-out charge within the City of Stockholm.
We work across Stockholm and surroundings: Södermalm, Kungsholmen, Östermalm, Bromma and Vasastan just as often as Täby, Nacka, Solna, Sollentuna, Danderyd, Lidingö, Huddinge, Tyresö, Värmdö, Södertälje, Norrtälje and Vallentuna.
The router is rarely the problem
Which router has the best range?
This is the question we get most often, and the answer is almost never a model name.
Is there a router with the best range?
Not in the way most people hope. If you're looking for the router with the best range, the problem is usually that a single device is expected to cover the whole house, and concrete, brick and floors stop the signal long before the router runs out. A more expensive WiFi router with the best range on the shop shelf moves the limit a few metres. Two access points in the right place move it through the whole home.
So how do you build the best wireless network at home?
With cable at the bottom and radio at the top. The best wireless network is the one with the least wireless in it: every access point is fed by network cable and so never has to share bandwidth with anything else. That's also why the best wireless WiFi is never about how many antennas a box has in the picture.
What do you do that I can't do myself?
We measure. Before we put anything up, we go through your home and see where the signal actually drops, how the neighbours' networks interfere and which channels are free. Then we place the points where they do some good, instead of wherever there happens to be a power socket.
